Tour de Kihti – New Archipelago Cycling Experience 2025

Tour de Kihti is a new cycling route for bike travelers in the northern parts of the Archipelago Sea. The route loops around the Kihdin sea bay, passing through Kustavi, Pargas, Iniö, Houtskari, and Brändö. The total length of the circuit is 120 kilometers, with approximately 60 kilometers to be covered by foot or bike. The route makes use of the archipelago’s ferry and bridge connections, making it unique.

The suggested starting and ending point of the route is located in the center of Kustavi, but you can also start from other locations along the way. Tour de Kihti can be combined with other Archipelago Circle routes or a cycling journey further to Åland. The recommended direction is clockwise: Kustavi – Iniö – Houtskari – Brändö – Kustavi. The route mostly follows paved roads, but since it is not marked on the ground, independent trip planning is recommended.

Tour de Kihti can be completed in as little as two days, with one overnight stop, but we recommend allowing 3–4 days for a leisurely bike trip to fully immerse yourself in the relaxed island atmosphere.

Tour de Kihti offers an unforgettable experience for anyone who wants to combine exercise, nature, and culture while enjoying the archipelago landscapes.

Come explore the secrets of the archipelago and let the sea breeze carry you away!

Route Safety

The route travels along narrow village and country roads, with bike lanes only available in the Kustavi town center. However, the entire route is paved, making cycling smooth. The route is not yet marked on the ground, but you will find information signs and instructions at the harbors. The staff of the ferries can assist you with bike placement if needed.

Remember safety! Wear a helmet and use lights. There is also other traffic on the archipelago roads, especially when the ferries arrive and just before they depart. Be prepared for changing weather conditions.
